Odour Control Cover

Due to the European legislation covering odour control, Southern Water decided it was necessary to provide enclosed waste treatment tanks at Budds Farm, Portsmouth and the opportunity was taken to introduce a new design based on the use of Racolin’s GRP lattice beams.

· A combined rotating roof and circular tank gives excellent odour control

· Dispenses with traditional the scraper bridge and tank roof.

· The rotating roofs improved the energy efficiency of a traditional scraper bridge by adding scraper blade sets to each of the 10No. support beams, thus reducing the required rotational frequency by 1/10.

· Installation without use of heavy plant.

· Greatly improved life expectancy due to resistance of GRP to methane gases

· Anticipated low maintenance costs.

· 10m beams designed and tested to include for a central pedestrian area as well as working and environmental loads.
